As humans - we're pretty gullible.  Not so much in that we believe everything everyone tells us but we pretty much believe everything we tell ourselves.  With good intentions have you ever told yourself - "I'll just quickly check my emails before going to bed" and it takes an hour?  Have you ever told yourself that "Pepperoni Pizza is a balanced meal?"

Often there is a large gap between what we say we believe in our head, and what we truly believe in our heart.   The heart is the real center of our emotions, will and motivations.  And while we certainly don't like talking about it - the heart is also where sin comes from.

In the beginning of our story, Satan led our ancestors into believing untruths about God’s character and to believe lies.   Author Tim Chester has put it this way, “Sinful acts always have their origin in some form of unbelief - behind every sin is a lie. The root of all our behavior and emotions is the heart, what it trusts and what it treasures. People are given over to sinful desires because ‘they exchanged the truth of God for a lie’”

Underneath our actions and attitudes are ultimately some faulty beliefs - faulty beliefs about God.  This week we'll look at four life-changing truths or freeing facts about God: God is Great, God is Glorious, God is Good and God is Gracious as well as the implications of trusting and practicing them in our lives.  What happens when we choose to believe them?  What happens when we don’t?
