No one is going to argue that the world is in a really good state - it's not hard to see it's messed up in many ways. Where we see disagreement though is what's really the cause of the disruption. Is it politics, is it human morality, is it nature?
More importantly - how do we navigate our way through the mess? What are we pursuing to give us a sense of stability, significance and life in the midst? What do we think will fulfill us?
Jesus has two conversations with two very different people navigating their way through the world and on paper - they appear to have little in common. But each of these encounters will help us see that although their fulfillment strategy is different - their (and our) deepest need is the same and who can satisfy.
